Depending on your pH requirements, the quantity to be used varies according to the aquarium size and number of pets and the species.

Start with 1 cone per gallon and observe the pH effect.Some of the most ideal habitats for pH stabilizer cones are the shrimp tanks and blackwater habitats.A single cone is sufficient for 2.5 – 5 gallons (10-20 litres)

Please note that alder cones release a significant amount of tannins, which lower the pH level of water, making it more acidic. This may not be suitable for all aquatic species. Bee shrimp, for instance, thrive in a more acidic environment. While this may benefit various fish species, it might not be appropriate for all, particularly those that prefer neutral or alkaline water conditions. We highly recommend researching the specific needs of your fish before introducing the cones. Each region’s water has a different pH, so it’s essential to monitor your water regularly.

If you wish to avoid tannins in your aquarium water, you may follow these steps:

Boil the cones for 90 minutes, replacing the water every 30 minutes.Soak them in a jar for an additional 48 hours, replacing the water every 24 hours.
